
Eccentric doesn’t just mean a little strange! 😜 It’s also a type of exercise movement, along with its buddy concentric movement, that we’re talking about for our Fitness Focus Saturday!
Eccentric exercise is when the muscle is lengthened. Concentric movement is when the muscle contracts. Think of a bicep curl. 💪 When you pull in the weight, your muscle is contracting, or doing a concentric movement. Extending your arm is the eccentric movement.
Both types of movements are necessary in your workouts because eccentric movement builds up your strength while concentric movements give you more power when you’re training. 👌
