Self-Care vs. Self-Love


We can all be so hard on ourselves and I’d love for 2022 to be the year of radical self-love, self-care, and self-acceptance. The year we stop beating ourselves up and start loving ourselves like we love our best friend. This type of love for ourselves is deep work and takes time, but here are some ideas to help you start loving yourself more than ever before!


1. Talk to, and about, yourself with kindness. If you wouldn’t say “gosh you’re such an idiot” to your best friend, don't say it to yourself!

2. Set boundaries and hold onto them. Relationships and commitments to others are important, but if you said you were going to stay home Saturday night to catch up on Netflix and do your laundry, don't let anyone talk you out of it.

3. Stop doing things you hate doing. If you hate mowing the lawn or cleaning the bathroom, hire a housekeeper or pay the teenager across the street to do it. Make more time to do what you love!

4. Begin a gratitude practice but make the things you’re grateful for aspects you love about yourself. “I’m grateful for my strength both physical and mental,” “I’m grateful for my body that does so many things throughout the day,” etc.

5. Try something new. Life is full of fun activities and challenges so put yourself out there and try something you’ve never done before! You may find a new hobby!

6. Drink plenty of water and get enough rest. This does wonders for your body, your mood, and your outlook on life!
